Tour Details

One day hike Royal Inca Trail (1 Day Inca Trail to Machu Picchu) starts idyllic by a wake-up early. Then we are taken by our private transport to the railway station at Ollantaytambo to board a train taking us to the starting head trail – so called Km 104. Then we pass through an Inca Trail checking point and start hiking through lush vegetation of a cloud forest while greeeted by local exotic birds such as Andean guan, grey-breasted mountain tucan, etc. and since we can see various wild orchids and bromelias along the path too. Our Tour Guide explains us about the Chachabamba ruins that were rediscovered in 1940. Lunch. Our next stop is in Wiñay Wayna, an Inca complex neighboring to Machu Picchu. The complex, which name means “Eternal Youth, can boosts with a stunning view down at the Urubamba River. In late afternoon, we have descended to the entrance of Machu Picchu – Inti Punku (Sun´s Gate). Then we enter to the “Lost City of the Incas” and enjoy its guided tour 2 hrs. After you will take the bus down to Aguas Calientes town, where you will take the train return to Ollantaytambo, there our driver will take to Cusco.

  • Insect repellent – a recommended minimum is 20% DEET (please note that no malaria cases have been reported during this trip!);
  • Mobile phone/camera and its charger/batteries (please note that batteries are consumed quickly under cold conditions);
  • Flashlight/headlamp + batteries;
  • Handkerchiefs and toilet paper;
  • Small towel and toiletries;
  • Bottled water for the first morning and a water bottle to be refilled;
  • Optional: walking sticks; you can also rent it from us;
  • Please note: we provide filtered boiled water during the entire trek, but if you like to use water from streams along the trail, you need to take some water-purifying tablets with you.
  • Snacks (biscuits, energy bars, chocolate, raw fruits, muesli, etc.); Please note: we provide a daily morning snack and our meal service is very complete and well supplied. The recommendation of taking your own snack applies only to customers who like a specific snack that might not be on our menu.

We would love to take everyone on the Inca Trail and guide you to Machu Picchu. We can leave any day of the week as long as permits remain with the government. Please remember, permits are only needed for your START DATE.

Student discounts apply to anyone who has a valid UNIVERSITY STUDENT CARD at the time of the trek or who is 17-years-old or younger. For those using a University Student Card our under 17-years-old, we need to see a copy of their card or passport at the time of booking to receive the discount.

Huayna Picchu

Huayna Picchu: Huayna Picchu is the mountain that stands next to Machu Picchu. It’s a 45-minute hike to the top of Huayna Picchu. The views of Machu Picchu from the top are incredible. However, if you’re afraid of heights you need to be warned that coming back down the path is quite steep. If you decide to take this hike then you would it after your tour of Machu Picchu. While this hike is on your own your guide will direct you to where it starts. Arrangements need to be made at least one month in advance due to popularity.

  • The ticket is $75 per person.

Machu Picchu Mountain

Machu Picchu mountain is the mountain that stands above the Machu Picchu ruins. It offers even more stunning views than Huayna Picchu but takes an hour and a half to reach the top. You can book this with an additional entrance ticket that we can secure for you.

  • This ticket is $75 per person.

Vistadome Train

All our tours include the Expedition (Tourist) Train. This train is usually booked at 4:22 p.m. departing from Aguas Calientes. There is also the Vistadome train, which is an upgraded train that offers slightly larger seats, windows and some entertainment. Usually the Vistadome train is booked for 4:43 p.m. and travels to Poroy, a train station closer to Cusco. While this is an upgraded fee, we will still include your transportation back to your hotel.

  • This train is $75 per person.

Extra Day at Machu Picchu

You’ll have a full day at Machu Picchu arriving at the citadel around 6 AM and leaving no later than 2 PM to catch your 4:22 train. If you would like to tour Machu Picchu again on your own the next day that can be arranged for you.

  • The entrance ticket into Machu Picchu is $55 per person.
  • The roundtrip bus ticket between Aguas Calientes and Machu Picchu is $25 per person
